Oct 132009CVS: Green Bag Tag

Wow! This is really cool. Next time you’re at CVS, be on the lookout for the Green Bag Tag you see pictured above. I’m guessing it will be hanging near the registers. Purchase one for $.99.

Why? Because when you use a reusable shopping tote you’ll earn $1 ECB every fourth time you scan your green bag tag. That’s like a $.25 bag credit per use!

Here are the details on the card:

To earn Extra Bucks for a transaction in store, your Extra Care card, Green Bag Tag, and reusable bag must be presented w/ purchase at checkout. Limit of one Green Bag Tag use/scan per day per household. Every 4th purchase your ECBs will print at the bottom of your cash register receipt as a $1 coupon good for your next purchase. Extra Bucks can be used until the expiration date shown on the coupon…

(Thanks Couponing to Disney!)

  1. That’s awesome news!! I always use my green bags, and the $1 investment will definitely pay itself off! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Hey Shellie, I just wanted to let you know that I posted this great news in my blog and pointed anyone who sees it this way to get the details. I’m super excited about this and can’t wait for my next trip to CVS! 🙂

  3. Thanks for the info! Do you know if you have to use a CVS reusable bag or can it be from any store?

  4. That’s awesome! I’m definitely going to get one, because it will pay for itself within a month! That’s fantastic! I can use that extra free $1 EB to go towards my papers once a month!

  5. Has anyone actually found this in the store?! I went to my CVS (in Wilmington, NC) and they had not heard of it.

Shellie says: They should be arriving in stores this week. My store gets trucks in on Tuesday nights. I went by today and they didn’t have them. The manager said to check back next week and maybe they’ll be on the next truck.

  6. I had the same question as Kristin… I have lots of reusable bags I’ve gotten free from Kroger at tiems… but none from CVS

  7. I got my tag tonight. And you can use it with any reusable bag- it does not have to be a CVS bag!

  8. They should be by the registers at the top of the checkout hanging from a peg. My store got ours last week.
Also, you don’t even need to use a reusable tote bag. You can go bagless and they will scan your bag tag since the idea is to use less plastic bags. You can even reuse a plastic bag from a previous trip.
If you happen to forget your bag tag then you can also call customer service with your reciept information and they’ll credit your tag for the 25 cents too.
