Mar 26201515 Best Selling Kindle Books for $4 or Less

Whether you are filling your Kindle while dreaming of those long, lazy summer days or are just looking for a new book for tonight, I have a huge list of inexpensive Best Selling Kindle Books. These all have thousands and thousands of great reviews.

Many are becoming (or already are!) movies. I’ve read many of them myself and jotted down my thoughts about the book in addition to the synopsis. I hope this helps you find something new and great.

The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown – $2.99

Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times—the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.50.16 PMDark Places by Gillian Flynn – $2.99

I just finished this a few weeks ago and thought it was good. Definitely a page turner!

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered. She survived—and famously testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club—a secret secret society obsessed with notorious crimes—locates Libby and pumps her for details. They hope to discover proof that may free Ben. Libby hopes to turn a profit off her tragic history: She’ll reconnect with the players from that night and report her findings to the club—for a fee. Through Libby’s search, the unimaginable truth emerges, and Libby finds herself right back where she started—on the run from a killer.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.50.29 PMIf I Stay by Gayle Forman – $2.99

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.51.24 PMThe Fault in Our Stars by John Green – $2.99

This was such a great book. I really enjoyed it. It’s young adult so it’s a quick read but it’s definitely a tear jerker!

Hazel is sixteen, with terminal cancer, when she meets Augustus at her kids-with-cancer support group. The two are kindred spirits, sharing an irreverent sense of humor and immense charm, and watching them fall in love.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.50.42 PMDefending Jacob by William Landay – $2.99

I read this a while ago and it really stuck with me. The book is thrilling and thought provoking and a little disturbing.

Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney for two decades. He is respected. Admired in the courtroom. Happy at home with the loves of his life, his wife, Laurie, and teenage son, Jacob. Then Andy’s quiet suburb is stunned by a shocking crime: a young boy stabbed to death in a leafy park. And an even greater shock: The accused is Andy’s own son—shy, awkward, mysterious Jacob. Andy believes in Jacob’s innocence. Any parent would. But the pressure mounts. Damning evidence. Doubt. A faltering marriage. The neighbors’ contempt. A murder trial that threatens to obliterate Andy’s family. It is the ultimate test for any parent: How far would you go to protect your child?

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.51.05 PMMe Before You by JoJo Moyes – $2.99

This was one of my favorite books from last year ad I can’t wait for the movie. You really fall in love with the characters.

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex–Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

Screen Shot 2015-03-26 at 12.15.24 AMDivergent by Veronica Roth – $2.99

If you haven’t read the Divergent Trilogy yet, do it. I enjoyed it but the first book was definitely the best. These are Young Adult so they are very quick reads!

Beatrice Prior’s society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she’s determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.52.25 PMInsurgent by Veronica Roth- $3.99

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.49.27 PMAllegiant by Veronica Roth – $3.99

Edith Prior’s tape blew the lid off the secret history of the factions and how they evolved to be the organizing force in society. Now, one group shouts “Death to the factions!” while the other writes the Allegiant Manifesto, declaring that factions are the way society was meant to be. Divergents like Tris are no longer considered rejects, but instead are declared Genetically Pure. Tobias, once a proud Dauntless leader, now struggles with the knowledge he is Genetically Damaged and a second-class citizen in the eyes of many.

Screen Shot 2015-03-26 at 12.27.50 AMDeparture by A.G. Riddle – $3.99

Harper Lane has problems. In a few hours, she’ll have to make a decision that will change her life forever. But when her flight from New York to London crash-lands in the English countryside, she discovers that she’s made of tougher stuff than she ever imagined. As Harper and the survivors of Flight 305 struggle to stay alive in the aftermath of the crash, they soon realize that this world is very different from the one they left. Their lives are connected, and some believe they’ve been brought here for a reason.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.50.00 PMPaper Towns by John Green – $3.99

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back in the middle of the night—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows. After their all-nighter ends, and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues–and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees the girl he thought he knew.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.51.52 PMWhen I Found You by Catherine Ryan Hyde – $3.99

This was such a sweet book. I loved the relationship between the two men.

While duck hunting one morning, childless, middle-aged Nathan McCann finds a newborn abandoned in the woods. To his shock, the child—wrapped in a sweater and wearing a tiny knitted hat—is still alive. To his wife’s shock, Nathan wants to adopt the boy…but the child’s grandmother steps in. Nathan makes her promise, however, that one day she’ll bring the boy to meet him so he can reveal that he was the one who rescued him.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.51.35 PMMiss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs – $3.99

As a kid, Jacob formed a special bond with his grandfather over his bizarre tales and photos of levitating girls and invisible boys. Now at 16, he is reeling from the old man’s unexpected death. Then Jacob is given a mysterious letter that propels him on a journey to the remote Welsh island where his grandfather grew up. There, he finds the children from the photographs–alive and well–despite the islanders’ assertion that all were killed decades ago.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.49.43 PMAmerican Sniper by Chris Kyle – $4

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. His fellow American warriors, whom he protected with deadly precision from rooftops and stealth positions during the Iraq War, called him “The Legend”; meanwhile, the enemy feared him so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 11.49.08 PMGone Girl by Gillian Flynn- $4

If you haven’t read this one yet, don’t miss out. It twists and turns and just when you think it can’t get any crazier, it does and just when you think you have it figured out, it twists again.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Screen Shot 2015-03-26 at 12.21.52 AM Screen Shot 2015-03-26 at 12.19.43 AM

And if you are willing to spend a little more, I just finished 2 fabulous books. The first was Girl on a Train. It was another thriller. Again, lots of twists and turns and you really are pulling for the main character to pull it together. The second was The Nightingale. This one is my favorite book so far this year. It was just beautiful and it was just one those books where you can’t wait to see what happens but you are so sad when it ends.
